Update on my list - 4 months in
I’ve been reading “The Next Thing on My List” for January’s book club and it inspired me to do a check in on my own list that I drafted back in September.
I’ve made some headway, but still have quite a bit left to accomplish in the remaining 8 months (as you can see below.)
Begin a family tree and understand more about my family history. (something I’ve always wanted to do)- I’ve had great success thanks to Ancestry.com. I’ll be publishing a book/poster or something along those lines for family by end of year.Explore a new career opportunity and change gears.- I’m happy to report that I’ve done just that. I’m in a completely different industry and find it very fulfilling to be a part of the higher education space.Readand watch The Last Lecture.- I cried on the plane. Had to put it down. Picked it back up and found a huge amount of inspiration (I was going through my career change when I read it.)- Go for a hot-air balloon ride.
- Bike the Wekiva trail (round trip is 28 miles.) - I’m working on this - I’ve been trying to ride on the weekends and count on having more daylight soon to help with this one.
- Attend at least 3 local concerts.
- Attend at least 2 theatre productions. Avenue Q is first on the list.
- Donate 30 hours of my time to charity. Susan G. Komen was where I spent most of my time this past year.
- Go parasailing.- I hope to do this on my trip to Costa Rica in April.
- Learn how to ‘really’ drive the boat. (easier said than done) - I can start working on this when it warms back up.
- Go to NY for some quality shopping.
- Plan a girls trip. - This is also in progress with my Facebook friends and family. It’s looking like a late summer trip.
- Learn how to make a Thanksgiving turkey. (I’ve never had to do this)
- Teach Bonzo at least one new trick.
- Host a 2nd cookie exchange for the holidays.
- Take a surfing lesson or 2 or 3.- - I hope to do this on my trip to Costa Rica in April, as well.
- Pay off all of my credit card debt. (I’m so close)
- Digitize all of my family’s old photos and organize.
- Take salsa dance classes. (I miss dancing.)
- Tune my flute and figure out if I can still play.
- Find a video game I really like and get really good at it. - This should be easier now that the Wii is working again!
- Learn how to make an amazing bisque - tomato, lobster, mushroom - it doesn’t matter what type.
- Play 18 holes of golf… in a row.
- Start working on another degree.
- Draft a list of places to go before I kick the bucket. - This is a work in progress.
- Begin working on a new book.
- Go on at least 1 road trip.
Get back into yoga and keep up with my practice.- I’m happy to say that I’ve been going to yoga at least twice a week. My body & mind can already tell the difference. Remind me to never stop - I aspire to make it a life long practice!- (Reserved for Ted.)
- Embrace being 30 & celebrate in style!
