Thanks to the guys at Dream Factory Productions my handbag got a new nickname on Friday ‘maleta.’ It translates from Spanish to English meaning ‘suitcase.’ I’ve been referring to it directly as mi maleta ever since.
While I’ve not carried a lot of large bags in the past, I really dig this one. I found it at Marshalls in Apopka a few months ago. I love shopping there - lots of good deals and the newly renovated store is organized and clean.
My mom used to tell me when I was in high school that I had champagne taste on a beer budget - I would walk into a shoe store and immediately be drawn to the most expensive pair. I like to look at it as a gift… Needless to say stores like Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Steinmart, etc. allow me to indulge at a price that allows me to sleep at night.
I had a parking lot attendant a few months back describe my handbag as a suitcase, in a rather direct/curt way  - I smiled and said ‘thanks.’ While my ego was slightly wounded I wasn’t going to let this woman get the best of me. Now I look at it as a compliment - maybe it’s because maleta sounds more charming in spanish. Either way, if you see me this summer mi maleta will be close in tow.
